9/11

Picture
On September 11, 2001, the United States changed forever. On the morning of 9/11, 19 terrorists from the organization al-Qaeda hijacked four commercial jet planes, putting all the passengers and themselves ready for death. Two planes crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, killing everyone on board of the plane and many were killed working in the buildings. Both building collapsed within two hours, destroying many buildings while damaging others. The third plane crashed into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. The fourth and final plane crashed into a field just outside of Pennsylvania. Many people believe that the passengers on that flight were trying to regain control over the plane, which made the plane crash into the road. Some believe that the terrorists were heading for the White House, or the Capitol Building, but no one can be sure. There were absolutely no survivors on any of the flights. Nearly 3,000 people and all 19 terrorists lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
Today, reconstruction is taking place in NYC. There will be new Twin Towers rebuilt and there is a memorial called Ground Zero. Ground Zero is a memorial in honor of those who lost their lives on the flights. There is also a memorial Pentagon that was completed and opened on the anniversary of the attacks (September 11, 2008). While the memorials show respect and pride to our county, no one will ever forget the attacks that changed our lives forever (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_11_attacks, 2007).
